I spent my 30s and early 40s working as a journalist on national women's weekly magazines both on staff and as a freelancer. Work was plentiful. People bought magazines back then so advertisers spent money to reach them. Then our collective attention began to shift away from print towards online and the magazine industry began it's inevitable decline.
